Dr Ajoy S M is currently working in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Ramaiah Medical College and attached hospitals and is a Senior Consultant providing Foot and Ankle Services. After completion of MBBS and Post Graduate Diploma in Orthopaedics from the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, and DNB from National Board of Examinations, he has worked in various capacities in hospitals ranging from charitable to corporate. A Fellowship in Adult Reconstruction from the NUH Singapore, a four-year stint in tertiary care hospital in MOH, Oman, and the KOA traveling fellowship in UK and Foot and ankle observership with Prof Hintermann in Switzerland and Dr Michael Coughlin in USA formed part of his training and experience. He completed a Diploma in Tissue Banking from the University of Barcelona and has keen interest in the new field of Tissue Banking and is associated with the Ramaiah Tissue Bank as its co-ordinator and Quality Control Officer since its inception in 2012 and is the Program Director of the Advanced Certificate course in Tissue Banking conducted by the RUAS in association with DTI - Barcelona. He has been recognised as a Post Graduate Teacher by the Rajiv Gandhi Health University (Karnataka State with 54 medical colleges) since 2017 and as a PhD Supervisor since 2021 (by the RUAS) and has been a Post Graduate examiner at different Universities across India. He has completed the AO Basic, Advanced and Lower Extremity Master’s Course (Davos) and is Faculty and Course Co Chairman for the prestigious AO and AOA courses. In addition to his regular clinical work at both the hospitals involving patient care and performing thousands of surgeries over the past two and half decades, he has also been a faculty in more than 230 regional, national and international courses, with more than 275 presentations and has been the Organising Chairman for 10+ Foot and Ankle Cadaver based courses, including the 6th Annual Parekh Indo US Foot and Ankle Course. He has been the Course Co-Director for the prestigious overseas BOFAS course thrice. He has authored 32 publications including 3 book chapters and more in different stages of peer review. He is currently the Associate Editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery (Asia Pacific). He was elected as an EC member of the IFAS and was heading the research wing in 2017-18. He is the past Hon. Secretary of the Indian Foot and Ankle Society (2018-20) and the past Secretary of the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society (2019-20). He has been nominated as an EC member of the Indian Orthopaedic Association for 2022 and 2023. He has been the Scientific Chairman of the IFAS for year 2022-23 and the Chairman, Scientific Committee of the IFASCON 2023 held at Nagpur, IAFAC 2024 held at Kolkata, IASCON 24(F&A section) held in Bangalore and IOACON 2024 (F&A sessions) held in Bangalore. He has been elected and has assumed charge as the President of the Indian Foot and Ankle Society for 2025-26. He is currently a Council Member of the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies and is the Scientific Chairman for the 11th Biennial AFFAS Conference in 2027 at Kolkata.
